Macugnaga

At the foot of the majestic east face of the Monte Rosa massif, stands Macugnaga, a characteristic village founded in the 13th century by the Walser, the jewel in the crown of the Anzasca Valley. The village features typical wooden houses that rest on stone bases grouped into small nuclei. Everything is strictly ordered and expertly organized to welcome the numerous tourists who crowd the streets of this enchanting town every year.

What to do in Macugnaga?

Macugnaga boasts a very rich offer of activities, starting from the winter seasonwhich offers 35 km of ski slopes from the town (1327 metres) up to 3000 meters above sea level, snowshoe trails and high-level slopes, attracting world-class athletes here to train in preparation for the world championships. In summer, however, there are many mapped and equipped paths, which allow you to discover wonderful mountain pastures; also for walkers there is a wide choice of itineraries and refuges based on their abilities. The offer is completed by first-rate accommodation facilities and excellent restaurants and bars.
